The Foundation

The Prof. Dr. Heinz R. Böhme Charitable Foundation is a non-profit organisation that forms the institutional basis of the museum and ensures its long-term independence and orientation. It was founded with the aim of not only preserving the works of the Lost Generation, but also of raising the profile of their creators and permanently anchoring their artistic legacy in research, exhibitions and education.

As the museum's sponsor, the foundation is responsible for the operation and strategic development of the collection. It also facilitates exhibitions, research projects and collaborations with national and international partner institutions.

New acquisitions and targeted collection developments also fall within its remit, insofar as financial resources permit. This structure is intended to preserve the museum as a permanent place of remembrance.

The foundation pursues exclusively charitable purposes. All of its funds go directly towards financing and operating the museum and its projects. It is financed by donations, income from the foundation's assets and project-related grants.

Its task is to to give all people and generations access to the art and history of the Lost Generation.
