12 Euro   –    Reduced: Seniors (65 and over)

As a non-profit museum, we rely on admission fees for funding. We therefore kindly ask for your understanding that we cannot accept the Ö1 card, Salzburg Card or other membership cards.

Important information for journalists
If you would like to report on a current exhibition, event or other museum-related topic, we will be happy to provide you with free admission. To do so, you must register by e-mail at least one working day in advance. Please state the date of your visit in addition to your medium and attach a scan of your valid press card. Thank you very much!

Guided Tours

Our guided tours focus on selected works and stories from Max Beckmann’s master class – for a price of five euros (+ admission).

Next dates: 2 & 16 March 2024 at 3:00 pm. We kindly ask you to pre-register.
5 Euro per Person + Admission fees

Private Guided Tours: On request, up to max. 25 people, in English or German
130 Euro + Admission fees

School classes: Dates on request, up to a maximum of 25 people, in English or German, 3.50 euros per child

 

Accessibility

The Museum is located on the first floor and also has a lift to ensure accessibility.
Those wishing to use the lift should please contact us in advance by telephone, at +43 (0)662 276231.

Taking Photographs

Filming and photography without a flashlight and tripod are allowed for private use only. Photography for political and scientific reasons as well as the distribution of the imagery on the Internet are subject to permission.

Travelling to the Museum

Our museum is located in a pedestrian zone and there are public parking lots, as well as garages in the immediate vicinity.

Using public transport

You can take any one of busses Nos. 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 14, 20, 25 or 28 to the stop “Rathaus”. Then walk across the Alter Markt, turning right at the Café Tomaselli and left into the Sigmund-Haffner-Gasse. The Museum is several metres further on, to your right. The exhibition space is on the first upper floor.

It takes around five minutes to walk from the bus stop.

By car

Park your car in the Altstadtgarage B in the Mönchsberg. Take the Toscaninihof exit, go through the Toscaninihof itself, then turn right into Franziskanergasse. Then take the first left into the Sigmund-Haffner-Gasse, where you will find the Museum on your left, after about 100 metres. The exhibition space is on the first upper floor.

It takes some ten minutes to walk from the car park.

Das Museum Kunst der Verlorenen Generation
Das Museum Kunst der Verlorenen Generation konzentriert sich auf die während des Nationalsozialismus diffamierten, verfolgten und heute unbekannten Künstler:innen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Vergessene Lebensläufe und neu entdeckte Kunstwerke aus der Zeit zwischen 1920 und 1945 stehen hier im Mittelpunkt.

BEYOND BECKMANN. Von der Meisterklasse bis zur Sammlung Böhme
„Beyond“ (dt. „darüber hinaus“) – Ein semantisch vielfältiges Wort, das sowohl zeitlich, räumlich als auch künstlerisch gelesen werden kann. Im Kontext von Max Beckmann und seinen Meisterschüler:innen bildet sich daraus ein facettenreiches Ausstellungsthema. Die rund 20 Jahre jüngeren Meisterschüler:innen haben sich auf vielfältige Weise über ihre Ausbildung bei Beckmann hinaus entwickelt, biografisch sowie künstlerisch. Ihre Werke sprechen aus der Sicht der „zweiten“ Generation der Moderne, welche die Einflüsse ihrer Vorgänger mit ihren eigenen Erlebnissen von Isolation, Flucht und Zerstörung in bisher unbekanntem Ausmaß verarbeitet.
